Inflation Woes Rising

Inflation Overtakes All Other Concerns For Republican Primary Voters

Across America, Inflation is outpacing all other concerns for Republican primary voters. The gap between Inflation and all other issues has risen steadily since February. Inflation, Standing Up To The Left, Border/Immigration, and Election integrity are the top issues in surveys of over twenty thousand likely Republican primary voters.

Inflation

The graph below shows “Inflation” has increased as the Most Important Issue among Republican primary voters from December 2021 to June 2022. This strongly correlates with increasing gas prices.

In December 2021, the price of gasoline was $3.44 per gallon and only 14% of respondents chose Inflation as their Most Important Issue. From December to June, the price of gasoline rose from $3.44 to $5.11 per gallon and the percentage of voters who chose Inflation climbed from 14% to 38%.

In late February we saw a steady increase in both the price of gasoline and the percentage of voters who chose Inflation, until the end of May when we saw a major increase in both.

Only One Issue Concept Outpaces Inflation

When it was asked, Standing Up To The Left was voters’ top choice at 23%, compared to Inflation at 17%. Inflation surpassed Standing Up To The Left as the Most Important Issue in June, as voters felt the impact of inflation and rising gas prices.
